Most jobs that impact people's everyday lives are thankless. You see the firefighters fighting a fire, you remember it because something went wrong and they rectified it. You don't see the engineer that designed the safety feature that did its job because everything was as it should. People don't notice.
This is something that has been on my mind for a long time.
