@danie10 @danie10 Fediverse is a predominantly left-wing network that takes pride in silencing their oposition and Mastodon is the worst of all. Caucasians only make 10% of world's population and white people are somehow always the problem. It's very common to see left-wingers trashing Christianity and the conservatives on the Fediverse but none of them dares to talk the same way about Islam. I know we talked about this already but I can't stand hypocrisy.
@danie10 For me free speech is more important than the Fediverse and not everyone have the skills setup his own server. I agree nobody should be trashing anything but it happens on the Fediverse all the time, and It's not the right wingers. Just last night I was on Diaspora and I saw a person posting crap about Christianity. I'm not even religious but it's part of my heritage and I don't see them talking the same about Islam. That would be Islamophobic of course.
@danie10 Hate speech can often be speech you don't like to hear and if you are the admin you have the power to just ban that person. That's why I prefer the US first amendment based platforms. I've tried a pleroma instance called free speech extremist but there's too much racist comments for my taste.
@flav racsism exists absolutely everwhere but it is usually minorities within groups, yet they are heard the most. For every two peopple commenting on my posts about etch, there are 1,000 plus others saying nothing. I've learnt those 0,2% are not the majority, nor will the other 99,8% say much. That is fine. On tech we can have opposing debates, but it is usually the context that differs (same in life actually). I'm not going to change the world.
@danie10 My fiancee is from Philippines so I'm not a racist, but I'm tired of being called white supremacist or white privileged or right-wing extremist for my political views. Yes I vote conservative and I support the Republican Party but that's how democracy works. But now many left wingers are saying openly they want communism, so they prefer one party system.
@flav again I don't like labels like Communism as it has emotions and issues attched. It's about how it affects people's lives. Communism differs from communism in many places, and seriously Democracy looks like it has big issues right now. Both Communism in the past, and Democracy today are being abused. The fault of all politicians. It's humans I have an issue with really I suppose.
@danie10 I was born during Communism in Romania and we had the bloodiest revolution in 1989. For most Eastern Europeans is terrifying to see Westerners praising Communism. I agree Capitalism's has failed but I don't think communism/socialism is the solution.
@flav I don't think any are the solution as-is. We need to look at human failing in politics especially. Many individuals the world around do not practice their politics true to whatever label they have adopted. And I suppose we have to start at the basics of human rights. But countries imply borders, control, and power. It's just all a bad mix. It also sets us all against each other, which is precisley what politicians want - nothing better than a "us vs them".
@danie10 True. Corrupted governments and corporations and the failures of Capitalism.
@danie10 The problem is in Communism it takes a revolution to get rid of it. People used to risk their lives on a daily basis to reach Western Europe. In the 80's life in Romania was like now in North Korea. Everything was rationalized.
@flav I don't have a solution as there are more things in technology that excite me every day. All I know is politics and democracy needs a good overhaul. Even democracy is practiced differently across nations. It's a power issue so of course ego's, lobbying, etc are all going to twist it around. Sorry but technology just excites me so much more and allows more agreements across countries and beliefs.
@flav I tend to deal with issues and people on what they say or do, not a label attached to a belief. All politics and religion is subjective and there is no convincing anyone otherwise. It's wasted effort. But freedom of speech is balanced with a freedom to hear, and should never be inciting harm or hatred - politics and religion follows the mantra tho of "I'm right for no reason and you are wrong". So let me say I hate politics and religion. I judge anyone by deeds.
