I have a friend who sometimes does pet/house sitting and one time she was watching a house and two cats for a couple, but one of the cats was outside at the time she got to their home (let’s call that cat Midnight).

They said it was normal and to just let the cat back in whenever it returned, so when Midnight finally appeared at the patio door later that night, my friend let them in and went to bed.

Over the rest of the weekend, Midnight and the other cat were sort of at odds with one another, but my friend did her best to keep the peace as much as possible.

At the end of the stay, the owners came home and my friend let them know everything went well, but that the cats were kind of weird with one another and asked if that was normal.

The owners seemed concerned, so they looked over at where Midnight was hiding, paused, and finally said “uh, that’s not our cat.”

@Alice this is why I am anti outdoor cat. I mean there are many other more important reasons but I’m adding this to my list.

@thebravelittleposter @Alice this is my favourite thing about outdoor cats. You no longer have one cat, you share every outdoor cat in the neighbourhood. I count that as an absolute win.
