it's kinda mental that the state of medicare in the USA is so bad that smart well-paid engineers still end up dying over things like flu, because they couldn't get the basic ass care they needed because it cost tens of thousands for even a basic checkup without stay.
the USA has really shown it's sliding into third world country state where only the rich aristocrats can afford healthcare. Is apartheid for welfare a thing?

@anthropy for it to be apartheid, their need to be different rules based on where you live and legal requirement for where you can live based on race, religion, or other protected class. So, I mean I don't know if the us isan apartheid. But I belive it would stretch the definition if it were.

@anthropy yeah, I am happy I live in Sweden where everyone* is guaranteed basic access to emergency care as well as some ongoing care.

@ekg yea that's fair, it's not quite an apartheid and it's also maybe a bad comparison in general, but the fact you rule out entire classes of people from basic medical care based on the amount of money they have does make for an effective seggregation method that is "accepted" because "that's just how capitalism works" or something, but really other countries don't have it THAT bad, so it's not just capitalism, it's systemic inequality that exists specifically in the USA
