A thing that's fun about Montreal is literally whenever you walk into a business establishment the counter/customer service person says the exact words "Bonjour! Hi!" and watches your face carefully to see which word you react to. It's like a discovery protocol

@mcc it took me quite some time to learn to say "hello" when in Sweden, because if you say "hi" they hear "hej" and send me a payload I can't parse.

@virtulis @mcc less that it's sound similar to "Hej", and more that "Hi" have become a lone word meaning "I accept both English, and Swedish". Very practical if you don't care/know what language the receiver is capable of.
