I got both pneumonia and TDAP shots yesterday and then went to the gym for the first time after weeks of traveling and sitting in front of my computer and...I feel like shit today 🤕 😂

I thought, okay, despite it being gorgeous out, mid-70s and sunny, I'll stay inside and get my "about" statement for my site (re)written to something more meaningful. Then I got the earthquake alert and... there went the morning.

Regarding the "artist statement" that people have been encouraging me to write about my photos, I have to say that I think such things are mostly cringeworthy, pretentious bullshit. Writing one that isn't? Fucking hard! So I don't blame people for hiding behind fancy art-speak.

I mean, look, maybe I'm just shallow and don't use my pictures to express some profound and unique vision of the world, revealed through my lens as only I see it. (See, barftastic is easy.)

But, I keep being told that I need such a thing. I had to make one up when I applied to a gallery (not accepted) and I guess normal people expect one?

Like, look at the damn picture, okay. Do you like it? Does it hold your interest? Do you want to keep looking at it? Yay! Then buy a print! You can keep looking at it forever. Ask a chatbot to make up a statement about it! I think I'm a little too feral.

Maybe I should ask potential customers to write an "observer's statement" before I'll sell them a picture?

My IG bio used to say "I like making pretty pictures," which sums up a big part of it. I like sharing them too because it's fun and sometimes makes friends and strangers happy. I also like getting new gear and learning what it can do. I also like going to pretty places and watching interesting and exciting events, so bringing a camera is a good way to add an extra layer of interest to that.

Does it really have to be more complicated than that?

I like making pretty pictures.
