@danyork @carlie Yes! There is so much that is specific to tech writing and tech book publishing in particular that people outside of the industry don't realize!
I agree that finding the time is *critical* and it's so important that I devote the first part of Chapter 4: The First Draft, to exactly that topic. People who are writing tech books typically already have a full-time job, so finding the time for a 2nd full-time job is a challenge!
@carlie @kyle What a great idea for a book! Looking at the TOC I wish I’d had that before I got involved with writing any of the (so far six) tech books that I’ve written. There is SO MUCH MORE to it then you initially know! Thanks for sharing that info about the book.
(The one detail I don’t see in that TOC is *finding the time* to write a book! 🤣 That’s my current challenge. I have many ideas.. but not the time to do the writing given current priorities / life.)
