Interesting essay on the rise of newsletters, RSS, and the browser.
Unmentioned is that, although podcasts use RSS, a lot of people discover them through a centralized service like Apple Podcasts, which kind of acts as a podcast search engine. Maybe we need a search engine for RSS feeds?

@nolan The site http://feedbase.io asks people to upload their subscriptions in the form of OPML lists (the export format of the RSS readers), the result is a crowd-sourced catalog of RSS feeds. Could be the seed for a search engine.
