Had to tell a friend that the reocuring dream they've been having doesn't mean anything other than the fact that the subject has been on their mind lately (which I know it does bc we've talked about the subject several times lately).

Looking up what this or that aspect of your dream means isn't helpful. It's distracting. It's just another way for us to sidestep our agency in life.

This friend was freaking out about their dreams and the meaning behind the choice that was taken in the dream. Instead of seeing it for what it was (a stressful decision), they attempted to push off responsibility to this "fate" bigger meaning thing attached to the dream.

@johnpierremaeli yeah, I'm almost done with my 1St semester in psychology and the main takeaway is that all those big names like Freud and Piaget have some cool ideas worth keeping aground and the rest is pretty much bs

@alexesc definitely! I've read some of Freud, but his stuff has never stood out as super profound.
