Do you think the free software movement would have a stronger presence without Linux (the kernel)? This seems like an obvious "no," but I would like to add that the Linux kernel is more responsible for spreading the term "open source" than "free software." As well, there would likely be stronger development behind the Hurd project, being the only free software kernel in town (besides the BSDs). Also, Linux is famous for leaving off the GNU, and the free software ancestry.
@lunduke #AskLunduke Thoughts on Docker's centralization of the container space? It strikes me as rather like GitHub, w/a virtual monopoly on the container registry infrastructure used by megacorps and startups alike. That kind of telemetry power makes me nervous...
#AskLunduke @lunduke I am only 20. How do I use a BBS. I could google it, but it is more fun this way...

Opinions on cleverness? Obviously overselling the abilities but may be substantive nonetheless.
The Unhackable Computer. A new PATENTED hardware design…
Kickstarter@lunduke Bryan, Have you seen this?
Any thoughts?
Is there an easier way to test a distro without setting up a full Virtualbox VM?

distrotest.netI've been dual booting linux distributions for some time and have been considering a total wipe of my gaming laptop when windows 8.1 support comes to a close. With back ups of course.
The problem is that it uses an itel software raid for its OSdrive(s), and I hear that causes problems for installing linux distributions. How hard would it be to disable the raid and have my three ssds separated when the time comes for a newish user? #asklunduke
@lunduke Show idea:
Do a show on mobile hardware and how it differs from typical desktop/laptop computers. Also: Why one can not install any desired OS on mobile devices like the aforementioned hardware.
Dear Doctor Professor Mr. Lunduke, Esq.,
I am a DevOps Engineer professionally and an Android ROM developer. I know a ton of telemetry can be detrimental to your freedom, and I hate it myself, but it is a major metric in my job. I've wanted to add telemetry to our open source Android ROM to give me a better idea of what/how features are used. I plan on it being anonymous, only incrementing values on the server.
Do you think open source telemetry is evil?
P.S. I use Arch
@lunduke #AskLunduke Hey Brian, what FOSS will you suggest to de-google my life in mobile devices (Except Librem. One)?
I am currently running LineageOS with #tutanota, #mastodon and #jami.
Any good alternatives to suggest to replace #WhatsApp and video calling?
I currently run #Fedora Rawhide with Tutanota, Jami, Whalebird and Riot with Tor Browser
@lunduke It has taken me years to start to de-Google, de-Facebook, and protect my digital privacy. My friends and family don't get why I am making this change. Being a professional technical person for a decade and a half, I feel like I am unable to "show them the light" with logic, knowledge, reason, and supporting articles of the scandals in big tech privacy (or lack of privacy). HELP!!

Over the past few years I've become unhappy with Intel (and the x86 platform as a whole really). I've been doing everything I can on ARM and everything else on AMD built chips for the time being until RISC V chips are at a point that they can reasonably be bought and used in daily driver scenarios. What are your thoughts on a RISC V powered future or do you think I'm just being overly hopeful and too nostalgic about PPC?
Many Thanks!,

@lunduke How can federated social networks (like here) compete against evil centralized ones? Will it take a huge hack/scandal to get people to make the jump? Or are federated networks somehow limited in the ways that the general userbase like to experience them? #asklunduke
@lunduke @lunduke #AskLunduke Linux Tycoon 2 Update? Lol actual question now, what is the weirdest thing you have that is open source / free software? I have an open source graphing calculator from Numworks that runs python!
You previously had a video stating that you were getting off social media. Then you went back to Twitter. And now you are on the Fediverse. What made you come to the Fediverse? How would you compare it to Twitter? And would you ever consider dumping entirely the wall-gardened social media of old in favor of the Fediverse?
#asklunduke @lunduke I bought a system76 galago pro for my college classes. One of the required classes is a class called workstation operating system. It is a class that literally teaches us how to use Windows 10. Should I use the college computers for that class or should I use Windows 10 in a virtual machine on my new galago pro?
@lunduke How did FOSS change during the last 5 years? #AskLunduke
I'm now taking questions for the Lunduke Show from here on Librem Social / Fediverse!
Here's how to do it:
1) Ask the question.
2) Tag me: @lunduke
3) Use the hashtag #AskLunduke
That way it's easy for me to find when I'm planning shows. I'm lazy like that. ;)
Hey @lunduke, Is this going to be the year of the Linux Desktop, thanks to MS writing the kernel into windows 10? Sorry for the seemingly dystopian question.
