having a cat is just going "why does my cat do *annoying behavior*" and then learning that its a way for cars to communicate that they love you and being like "oh 🥺"

Planned obsolescence can undermine privacy - and our pocketbook. For example, Apple computers, that get phased out of new software updates, may force us to make unnecessary choices.

This could force us to purchase new computers (when they are still viable) and to use hardware and software that may be outside our needs.

Try to install Linux before you opt for a new device. POP_OS performs wonderfully on outdated iMacs. Many distros can take a slow Windows PC and give it new life.

Try an app for your phone and computer that reduces the blue light on your screens at night.

Been enjoying messing with Zsh, oh-my-zsh, and now the PowerLevel10k theme set. The extra options work really well with my bare i3wm setup (no status or app bars). Makes it easy to add the essentials like time and battery status to the terminal prompt and carry on :)

This is one of the very first @PINE64 #pinetime coming out of the factory programmed with an open source firmware, #InfiniTime.

Unboxing it was one of the most satisfying moment, and this is actually the very first time I've ever wear a Pinetime on my wrist :D

Can we please, please – PLEASE! not make the nonsensical US date format month/day/year the default in applications? 🤦‍♂️

PRE 👏 TTY 👏 PLEASE

And to all users of that format: it makes no sense, it's counter-intuitive, it makes collaboration frustrating, it introduces inconsistencies and errors... Just stop. Please. Use international standards.
(And don't get me started on your other units of weights, volumes and distances. Bloody hell.)

Boost if I'm right.

I am not in the market for a VR headset but if I was, there is a brand I know I wouldn't touch even with a 10-foot pole.

I know Oculus is a Facebook company, but tying hardware to an online account is a very bad idea.

And tying it to a an advertising and data collection platform that requires that you send them a piece of ID in order to open an account with them is beyond ridiculous.
