If you still use Gmail, Google can scan your emails to track & keep full history of what you buy online. Yikes.

Google is trying to justify "why Chrome is so far behind [...] in offering privacy protections" with false claims that blocking tracking cookies is bad for privacy.

@purism Thanks! I expected there was a well thought out reasoning, great to get a good clear answer. I don't expect it'll impact my next laptop purchase, for games its now mostly older games that the Intel graphics can handle :)
@purism I know it opens up a bag of issues with both Open Source and Restricted Drivers available, but are there any plans in the future for any size of Librem laptop to have nVidia or ATI graphics capability?
The @PINE64 PinePhone is real! Here are some recent videos of it running:

Even better performance to be expected once all these platforms, now at their earliest stage, are optimized enough.
Good news! You now have the power to stop ALL auto-playing videos with a flip of a switch.

@Ste1lar@niu.moe Linux, nothing as long as your not recklessly using root or granting permissions.
Windows, the built in Windows Defender. I talked enough with honest AV developers before, for the good of all security, each AV company reports back into central shared databases on threats and fixes. So on a worst-case zero day, the AV company that finds/fixes may have a few hours lead before everyone else has it...
That being said...just don't use Windows unless forced :P
@techzerker Normally I private journal before bed, but tonight this thought train or musing just would not leave my mind, so it was written roughly and quickly!

@heroicstoic@social.privacytools.io I use it for my main system as well with i3wm mostly.
For the VPS server, I just decided I wanted to try to stick with the rolling release model vs. an LTS Ubuntu base that a few years down the road needs a 'major' upgrade.
Its been stable to date, updating weekly after a weekly full backup runs. Handling a Minecraft Server, two WriteFreely instances, and RSS Reader, Subsonic Music server and file storage synced with Resilio (BitTorrent) Sync.
@heroicstoic@social.privacytools.io Awesome to hear, I don't write very often but built my self hosted sites on WriteFreely.org, WordPress and the like was too cluttered for wanting to focus on writing.
I was considering hosting a small Mastodon instance, but bumped here to try Librem Social and I like their tweaks to Mastodon so far, and removing the clutter of the local and federated timelines, instead being just who I follow in the regular home timeline.
@heroicstoic@social.privacytools.io My resources right now are pretty much committed, but I'm curious to see what your plans and ideas are. I'm already an avid follower of Daily Stoic. At minimum I'm progressively building up experience in self-hosting services, with a few tripping blocks as I've chosen my self-hosted server to be Arch Linux instead of the usual Debian/Ubuntu based ones from VPS providers.
