@tomosaigon Cool find, I had not heard of it, nice write up :)
#twtxt is a primitive, minimal, social network for microblogging. A tiny twitter. And it's an unstoppable free speech platform compared to centralized ones like twitter.
Day 4 of #100DaysToOffload
WEBSITE: Please consider allowing ads on our page. We promise we don't run annoying flash ads or stuff like that.
ME: Ok, random seemingly independent website, I'll trust you.
WEBSITE: *autoplaying video!*
WEBSITE: OMG WE NEED YOUR CONSENT FOR COOKES
WEBSITE: Hey, you want to allow browser notifications!
WEBSITE: Here's like, 8 identical ads for some weird cartoony sex game
WEBSITE: Subscribe to our newsletter??? 😉
ME: 😒😒😒
Another day, another reason to stop using Google.
"The complaint... centers around the allegation of unlawful and intentional interception and collection of confidential data even when the user has followed Google recommendations to prevent this."

And I’m Feeling Good https://robert.winter.ink/and-im-feeling-good
A quick question...
I'm seriously considering the @PINE64 #pinephone and would like to know if its ready as a daily driver?
My requirements are: phone calls, SMS/mms, internet, hotspot or Bluetooth tethering, and GPS maps/navigation (I use osmand+ a lot). If these work reliably then I'm in. It seems different OS's have different results.
Experiences welcome as I'm really curious.
When we share “funny” videos captured by an unwitting person in front of a video doorbell, or use devices that track our movements or listen to our conversations, we may be normalizing #privacy invading creepy #tech.
Instead:
- give your privacy the priority it deserves
- use services & devices that tip the personal information balance in favor of the person over the company
- avoid links that undermine privacy
- avoid services that record voices, faces, location and clicks
Day 64 of the #100DaysToOffload Series:
Let's try to be a little bit realistic about this, please?

Star Labs is doing something EVERY Linux hardware company should be doing. It's awesome! https://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonevangelho/2020/07/16/pay-attention-to-linux-laptop-company-star-labs/#17f44a24425b
Customer is always right and all that but every time someone asks about Plausible supporting AMP I need to restrain myself from sharing this post. Sometimes I fail 😂
It's on Github now so let's see what the community says.
In the beginning of this year I joined New Vector (the company behind #Matrix) to improve the state of instant messaging. The open-source mindset is exactly what I had been looking for and I'm very happy to be able to work on Matrix full-time.
Today we renamed to #Element.

Today, make an effort to talk to at least one new person to let them know why maintaining good #privacy practices is important for you.
Warmly invite them to alternatives to ad and algorithm heavy websites.
Be kind. Be gracious to their feedback. Their reluctance may run deep after years of corporate and algorithmic manipulation.
These small steps to create a community help us all be more private and informationally secure.
Last year, we created more than 50 millions tons of e-waste and recycled only a sixth of this. By 2030, this number is expected to grow to 74 million. This problem needs to be tackled at the source, by creating sustainable devices. Read more (in Dutch):

Het elektronische afval groeit steeds harder. Schadelijk voor het milieu, constateert een VN-rapport, en slecht voor de portemonnee. https://www.trouw.nl/wetenschap/de-wereldwijde-berg-aan-elektronisch-afval-groeit-zorgwekkend-hard~b41d41b9/
@tapaniraja I use Resilio Sync on the back end for the actual file sync, but then use 'FileRun' for a pretty interface up front. I fought with a NextCloud install on my VPS, and the issues it was having was not worth it for my use case.
