We'd have to make it a discussion and would be reopening a discussion on the topic. Mastodon locks handles from public reuse forever to prevent fraudulent use/impostors and federation problems.

There was public discussion about deleting handles in Mastodon, and the project chose to permanently freeze handles allocated to an instance. I am very hesitant to change that in Gab Social. I didn't bookmark the discussion (should have), but I will look it up and follow up so you can consider their arguments.
