I know it’s been a while since my last update. Well, here’s where things are now. Using the #FujiNet I can run my program and have it listen on a socket. Then I use an #OpenSoundControl #OSC app on my iPad to act like a piano keyboard and send it messages. No sound yet, but I’m getting messages! #SepTandy #RadioShack #TRS80 #VintageComputing #RetroComputing

It’s less a concern that a foe would spread disinformation—“our own federal government is doing plenty of that already”—than that the vulnerability could be used to “lend plausible deniability to any legitimate videos,” EFF’s Cooper Quintin told https://nitter.oksocial.net/TheIntercept . https://theintercept.com/2025/09/08/department-of-war-defense-stream-keys-hackers-livestream-hack-security/

The investigative newsroom I work for, @ProPublica, is raising money right now. We report on abuses of power in the public interest - stories like corruption on the Supreme Court or the police response to the Uvalde school shooting. It was the first outlet to win a Pulitzer for web-first journalism. And if you donate through this link, you'll let our team know that the fediverse is an audience to pay attention to. https://give.propublica.org/give/346528/#!/donation/checkout?c_src=ben_mstdn #journalism #fediverse
New, from me:
At least 18 popular JavaScript code packages that are collectively downloaded more than two billion times each week were briefly compromised with malicious software today, after a developer involved in maintaining the projects was phished. The attack appears to have been quickly contained and was narrowly focused on stealing cryptocurrency. But experts warn that a similar attack with a slightly more nefarious payload could quickly lead to a disruptive malware outbreak that is far more difficult to detect and restrain.
