On this day, twenty-five years ago, libcurl was born. The engine from the #curl tool turned into a library so that others could also get internet powers.

The name "libcurl" was picked simply because we couldn't think of a better name and yeah, it is a "curl library"...

libcurl 7.1 was a dot-one release to make sure it would not get confused with one of the many 7.0 beta releases we did prior to the actual release.

One of the first adopters of libcurl was PHP.

Yep, this hit me back on 21 July on #Fedora. On the way out the door for work, laptop took too long to shut down, so I held the power button for 5 seconds. Got to work and it wouldn't boot. Thankfully, the CachyOS forums had an easy fix. #Linux #btrfs

Another #curl security report that took some serious mind wrestling and debugging to get to the bottom of.

In the end I deem it not a security vulnerability but you can see how this is not an easy call.

Having a 5 Gbps NIC using standard cat6e cabling is... actually really nice, not gonna lie. A lot of media can't even keep up at ~400 MB/s.

10 Gbps has *still* taken so long to trickle down, and has so many caveats, maybe 5 Gbps will be the new standard in a few years?

The UK’s Online Safety Act is being sold as a way to protect children. But instead, UK politicians are pushing sweeping censorship and forcing platforms to implement invasive age checks. This is not safety–it's surveillance.
