#NixOS 23.11 is now effectively end of life.
This means we'll stop fixing security issues, and there will be no more updates to its channels.
Upgrade to NixOS 24.05 asap.
So recently I discovered "foremost"; a command line data recovery utility for #Linux that is pretty badass. It gives you an "audit" file to list everything it found, sorts files into directories based on their file extension and doesn't even have to work with physical disks. You can use dd to make a 1:1 copy of a disk and that image will also contain the fragments of deleted files so you can use foremost on anything from physical disks to a dd image and recover data with it. Pretty badass, 🙂

Linux Mint 22 Beta is Now Available to Download
And we’re off — the Linux Mint 22 beta release is now available to download. The beta of Linux Mint 22 ‘Wilma’ lands ahead of an expected stable release, tentatively scheduled for late July or early August, depending on how many bugs, issues, and quirks are identified during the beta testing period. Linux Mint 22 is a big update. It’s the first version to be based on top of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, and inherits all of the foundational goodies that release provides.
