Valve should bring back the #SteamController. it should fix the first version's biggest flaw (lack of d-pad) and learn from more recent developments. here is a prototype of what it could look like 😏.

been using my Steam Controller almost exclusively for PC games since sometime last year

4 months ago I swapped out the thumbstick with one from another controller. way more comfy to use than what the SC came with (tho it's also wearing out already), and really helped solidify it as my favorite controller

very hopeful that a Steam Controller 2 happens sooner rather than later

alongside updating my deck's SSD i might look into getting a used steam controller.

one downside to playing docked is that i don't have a controller with trackpads, and playing certain types of games with trackpads really makes the experience better. i'm not aware of any controller that uses trackpads other than one valve made. do people like using it?

This is huge: an official wireless pad specifically designed for #Steam, the closest thing we'll get to a #SteamController - this one includes two front buttons to change profiles, two back buttons for macros, and most importantly it also includes a #gyroscope for #GyroGaming. hori.jp/products/hpc/hpc-055/

So yeah, I'll be getting laid off along with my whole team from Fastmail at the end of this week. If you know of anyone hiring backend developers (or frontend, designers, PMs, marketing, or managers who are also getting laid off) Please let me know!

I used to run a little #Linux magazine over at Medium. Surprisingly, it has had more than 200,000 views since we *stopped* producing content for it in 2021.

As I explore dipping my toes back into Linux and FOSS coverage, I'm curious what you all think about Medium in 2024?

(I haven't touched it in 3 years, and publishing platforms like this haven't been on my radar, so don't hold back with your opinions -- I'm genuinely curious).

Friendly reminder that you can try and adopt #NoGooMe as your default daily meta-search engine instance.

Why?
- because it’s free.
- because it’s #privacy oriented.
- because it runs on #OpenBSD.
- because it’s hosted in Europe.
