@jrredho

Quick update. I found a solution. I couldn't rebuild the initramfs for one kernel, but I was able to rebuild it for all kernels with the following command in rescue mode:

# 𝚍𝚛𝚊𝚌𝚞𝚝 --𝚛𝚎𝚐𝚎𝚗𝚎𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚎-𝚊𝚕𝚕 --𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚌𝚎

After that I was able to log in to my machine with no issues and no data loss.

I just want to note that this site is amazing. distrosea.com/

It lets you test dozens of different Linux distros online from your web browser. I use it a lot to see if a distro with a new release got rid of something annoying or not.

If you've never used a Linux variety before, this is your chance to see if a FOSS environment would suit you. Ditch Windows -- it spies on you, collects your data, sells it, and charges you for the privilege. Ditch MacOS -- it is closed and getting more closed every day, the walls are closing in, the area in which you reside is shrinking, it's going to crush you oh dear it's here the wallls areeeee

Well this is great. Google is now attempting to use generative AI to answer my search queries, and the results are pretty much as awful as you might expect.

* WaylandEnable=false is not a file.
* sudo/root isn't a privilege level.
* I'm not using GDM.
* You do not need to reboot for this solution to work, I don't think.
* I'd rather get my info from websites, not from whatever a machine drums up.
* Wayland is not a replacement for X11. It's an alternative to it with different goals and features.
* I have never before heard that Wayland is supposed to be faster than X11. I've seen benchmarks that it's slower in some use cases though.
* There's no button that I can see to turn off the Generative AI feature (and I checked multiple places).

Here's how you can use tcpdump command to capture and record specific network traffic, protocols and ports on #Linux, #Unix, #macOS (OS X) and BSD systems like #FreeBSD. This tool is essential for sysadmins and developers to debug networking issues. cyberciti.biz/faq/tcpdump-capt

I am very happy to see attempts of a improved notification portal, that's very much needed for a proper #UnifiedPush integration, which will help with battery life on laptops and general usability of phones running #Linux! KDEs implementation was a great first step and I was extremely happy that the Phosh folks started a Gitlab issue for push notifications after a little convincing, but everyone was always able to agree that this should be done through XDG!

Today, we step up our enforcement actions against Microsoft.

After not having received an answer to our request for information from 14 March regarding specific risks stemming from Bing's generative AI features, Microsoft has now until 27 May to provide it or could face fines and periodic penalties.

Bing may pose risks linked to generative AI, such as so-called ‘hallucinations’, deepfakes, and the automated manipulation of services that can mislead voters.

We all know this board, right? Not quite. Cassy put AI to the test to see if it could develop its own SparkFun product. Here's how it went: hubs.ly/Q02xwjx70
