Something screwy going on with my internet today. I thought it was flaking in and out, but pings always resolve in a timely manner when targeting an IP address. Sometimes however, certain websites will just stop loading. If you turn on a VPN, or use Tor, that all goes away. So it's not the integrity of my physical link, it's something to do with either routing or DNS. I have power cycled all hardware including my ISP's.
I'll experiment with different DNS settings first.
So I just noticed that my ISP has started offering 2Gbps internet with the same rules as the 1 gig plan we have now. Symmetric speeds, no data caps, no filtered ports, reasonable price. Time to upgrade, 🙂
Instead of pulling out a dozen screws to insert the card into the Toshiba, I think I’ll test it out first in my KT7A-RAID motherboard. This computer has Linux, XP, FreeDOS, and Win98SE.
