I read a bunch of stuff on the various levels of security of #Linux packaging formats, whether it’s Flatpak, snaps, AppImages, or native packages.

There seem to be a lot of confusion on app verification and what it truly means, on the sandbox, on the role of a package maintainer for a distribution, so I decided to bust a few myths:

I'm just going to ask the question again out of desperation to anyone that wouldn't have seen before. But, are there any DAW users out there on #Linux, what DAW do you use and where do you source your instruments?

A Belgian court has upheld the decision of the country’s regulator to introduce #RouterFreedom for fiber networks.

The objections, raised by a local internet service provider, were deemed unfounded.

This decision represents a significant victory for consumer rights, and we urge other national regulators to follow this example.

If there was a fully functional OS, usable for actual work in the modern world, that only took 600 MiB of disk space, would you try it out? Asking because I have a project idea and want to see just how small I can make an actually practical system using Linux from Scratch.

By actually practical I mean:

* Window manager
* Basic utilities like a text editor, terminal, archive manager, file manager, calculator, image editor, audio player, and password manager
* A functional, Chromium-based web browser
* Chat clients (Matrix, IRC)
* Other bits and bobs you'd expect to find on any good Linux system (Python, Perl, Bash, coreutils, all that stuff)
* QEMU and KVM support for virtual machines

Might sound impossible, but I think with some compression gymnastics and attention to detail it might be doable.
