@vkc@linuxmom.net It is the anti-reading thing that has been developing for a while. There is a section of the population that doesn't do long-format reading, tl:dr, for anything more than three or four paragraphs. If a summary isn't readily available, AI can make one.

I had to head down the historical rabbit hole; Red Hat ran a version of CDE that was a bit different than the Unix versions until they switched to Gnome as the default

@nixCraft In the US, it is not important. Most high school graduates can barely read and write and lack math skills. The OS they use to watch YouTube has no bearing on fixing those problems.

@vkc@linuxmom.net I am having flashbacks to installing 100+ NE2000 compatable ISA NICS on Windows 95 machines. They had a RJ45 and a BNC connector, we used the RJ45, and I took all the T connectors for the BNC attached them together in the worst, crokedest but chromeiest snake ever.

@nielsk This would be expected based on how the New Outlook works. It's just the web version in a window. There are no PST files for local storage for IMAP or POP accounts; it is all stored on the web.

@jacqui An old guy perspective: When I was a kid, they had been phasing this out (the early 70s), but the golden arches on the older McDonald buildings still hanging around were actual arches, part of the building, nothing to do with the "M" for McDonalds.

@vkc@mspsocial.net To clarify; for a while now, MFA has been on by default for M365 accounts, but individual users can turn it off or opt out and then turn it back on later if they want. The P1 and P2 licensing allows the tenant admins to make it absolutely mandatory, with no ifs and or buts, and enables some additional features related to Azure AD, not just the "Enforce MFA."

Also, are you surprised MS is gonna get paid?
