Updated my Librem 5 Dogwood to "byzantium" (PureOS 10) and today I connected it to my LG monitor (27UK850) via USB-C cable to charge the phone. Monitor was recognized and configured as secondary output! No docks, direct connection.

So I spent the last few hours on taking pictures of cats with the rear camera of my Librem 5. Yep, that's my job now.

All credit for the camera support goes to Dorota, Martin and Angus: source.puri.sm/Librem5/linux-n @merge @purism

This is the jellyfish h264 demo on a using the 's VPU.

Using the CPU we take 300% of CPU time, using the VPU instead we take 10% (and even that can be optimized further). Using the VPU also saves ~1.5W of power. Thanks go to the and kernel folks for making this possible!

Raspberry Pi OS has turned into spyware for M$:
github.com/RPi-Distro/raspberr

And yes, they add M$'s repository key to APT's trusted database and add their repo to APT's repo list.
Without asking.
Or informing you via a NEWS file.

So now every time you do "apt[itude] update", M$ will know about it.

This isn't the first time that the #RaspberryPi Foundation changed your sources.list without asking: x0f.org/@FreePietje/1037994382

Fuck that.

docked day 2:
- Move config over so works on the dock (hello encryted email, package uploads, ...)
- Join via element until fully covers it
- Figure out smtp in needs libsasl2-modules-gssapi-mit (so say goodby to the last on disk location that stored account passwords unencrypted)
- unbreak plymouth in so it doesn't force meta packages off the system (source.puri.sm/pureos/core/ply)
- no crashes so far

Apps... Tons of apps... Is the browser dead?

Today it seems that people believe that nothing works without an app. So, people must have an app for every single website they use, for every bank card, for every supermarket, for everything! Even for telling them that they are or might be sick!
People suppose that apps open up the entire world to them. But they don't. The aim of most of them is to keep them inside one single website, supermarket chain, etc.
When it comes to social media it's the same. People need an app for each one of them. But there are some great apps that can connect us to more than one social network on our great Fediverse. Unfortunately these apps can't deal with all different protocols that there are.
That's when the good old web browser comes handy! Et voilá! One single and great piece of software, one single app with it's handy tabs solves all the connection issues with the several social networks that we love!
Who said that the browser is dead?! libranet.de/display/0b6b25a8-7

Ok, maybe it's not that impressive for a regular person in 2020, but right now I'm playing Neverball in VR mode using cardboard headset with fully FLOSS GL driver (etnaviv) on a GNU/Linux phone (Librem 5) and it's damn amazing! :D @purism
