I spoke to the Ubuntu OnAir folks recently and you can grab a coffee and watch it now: youtu.be/cPLynYLnEeg

Everything you can see and retain from a security perspective that takes away privacy, an attacker, or the less ethical person who fills your role next, or your new infantile CEO, or your new money-minded boss can potentially see too. Assume it and decide accordingly in policy and technology.

anyone who thinks this way about tech, engineering, or literally any other field is a fucking idiot who very likely perpetuates toxic culture within their own workplace

I keep being delighted, over and over, by how much the fediverse feels like the early days of the bird site in so many good ways ❤️ #meta

To this extent I'm really interested to know how the age breakdown of people on the . On one hand it would seem to make sense to me that most people here remember the "old internet" before the centralization and they're here to rekindle that flame of independence. Now the way the Internet Archive is doing mastodon is how more organisations and celebs should be joining the fediverse!

They have a dedicated in house instance, which lets you identify official staff, and gives them control and security over their content, whilst also allowing people and instances to opt in or out of interacting with them

Kudos for doing it right @internetarchive!

Ok...I am just going to say it. I don't think anyone should start with x86 assembly. My 2 cents: jump directly into x86_64. Sorry not sorry. Feel free to fight me on this. :)

The lesson to take from the big layoffs at Twitter and Facebook is this: "The job will never love you back." No matter how much effort you put in, no matter how clever you are, no matter how long you've committed yourself to $COMPANY, when push comes to shove, you're just a replaceable part in the machine.

Keep your weekends and your evenings. Leave your bugs at work. Your time is for you, and your boss won't send you flowers.

So who else is here because Twitter is on fire?
