Today in 1775, American forces launch a night attack on Quebec City during a siege. The attack is a failure and American general Richard Montgomery is killed.
Only 19 of the 1,800 British troops are killed or wounded, while the Americans lose 84, with 431 captured.

35 years ago this morning, at 8 o’clock, I went out to buy the day’s paper. I remember it pretty well! It was the day I transitioned, and the first time I’d gone out as *me* in the daytime. Less than 20 feet from the front door, two of my neighbours were having a catch-up.

I was greeted with a cheery “Good morning!” followed a heartbeat later with an equally cheery “What do we call you now?” as they looked me up and down. “Naomi”, I said, and told them what was happening.

It's very disheartening to see that in the space of a month, the majority of images on my feed went from being described to having not even one sentence as a description. I started ID-ing on tumblr but #Mastodon really encouraged me to make it an actual habit.
