@thebravelittleposter @Alice this is my favourite thing about outdoor cats. You no longer have one cat, you share every outdoor cat in the neighbourhood. I count that as an absolute win.
There's a really concerning thing I've been seeing recently, that the escalation in transphobic and anti-disabled rhetoric on fedi is somehow justified because "everybody's stressed out about Trump".
This is bullshit, and if you see this bullshit you should call it out.
Being stressed out about the fascist president doesn't justify using the fascist president's rhetoric to punch down.
Attacking trans and disabled people supports Trump.
He did not know it had already been tried and found impossible, and so therefore because he didn't know it was impossible, it was possible for him
@T_X @futurebird @melanie @CCC the way I see it the main problem is funding. Storage space can be rented, and lenders can pay shipping costs. That's why I suggested a register as a first step, if we know what needs to be stored it is easier to plan.
@stuartyeates @futurebird @melanie most government has some kind of national archive. The question is how accessible they are, if president Orange, or president tech bro, decide who has access. Is it really accessible at all?
@futurebird @melanie if we start with a public register, where people can document what they have. I think we can find volunteers to store books. as long as we don't give to many books to one person, we should be fairly safe from unintended loses.
@futurebird @melanie someone really should found a cold store for books. If we can fill caves with cheese, why not books?

Hey, I’m looking for a roommate! I have a house in central Minnesota - it’s a three bedroom, me, a trans man, and two cats. #trans people specifically please dm for more info! :)
boosts appreciated!
some other details if you’re interested:
i currently co-own the house with my ex, who left. our plan is to sell it, but we can’t because it was just purchased in July. so this would be until spring or summer, and at that point I would potentially be interested in finding another place with the same roommate situation, if we all felt good about it.
I’m trans, 24, and while i like a decently clean house I’m pretty chill. My roommate is vegetarian and I’m vegan, so we wouldn’t want meat in the house.
Happy to discuss more if that sounds interesting :) I’m absolutely willing to take someone from far away!
41) A lot of places globally that have been magnets lately for US expats are experiencing serious impacts from that. Gentrification, extreme rise in housing costs and/or availability, inflation, sense of diminishing local culture, etc. Enter the new homeland with a lot of sensitivity to how our presence is disruptive to the lives of others. Tread lightly. Look for ways to become a contributing member of the community. I'm sorry this landed low on my random-order list. It's NOT a low priority.
