To anyone who missed the news, don't make the mistake of using Avast anti-virus, or AVG anti-virus without doing some research.

This is another of those, "If the product it free, you are the product" issues. Avast, owner of AVG, has been gathering detailed data about their users' online behavior, and were caught red-handed. They bought the data brokerage company Jumpshot back in 2013, and apparently have been gathering data through their AV products to feed it, since then.

This news broke in regard only to their browser plugins, which are easier to analyze. Just imagine what their software platform is doing...
