At least 70% of things I read about people doing with "AI" assistants like "Open Claw" are basically things people have been doing with deterministic, secure tools like Home Assistant for years.

Oh you can tell your bot to dim the lights via WhatsApp chat? Welcome to 2015!

Several European countries are considering social media bans for children. We must regulate platforms, not children. We must shift the burden of safety from the children to the corporations that profit from the environment.

I urge caution:
✅ Focus on "safety by design"
✅ Demand algorithmic transparency
✅ Enforce the #DSA & #HumanRights standards
✅ Consult experts, civil society and children

@dalias
Sex ed is a great analogy. This isn't something we can stop kids from doing, so we need to teach them how to be safe and responsible *before* they find themselves in situations they're unprepared to deal with.

I propose replacing calories with watt-hours.

- Almost same value (1 kilocalorie / Calorie is ~1.1 watt-hours)
- more intuitive for people who use electricity
- never the confusing between calories (science), Calories (food, which is technically kilocalories), kilocalories, and 'kilo Calories' (which is technically megacalories)
- you get to feel more like a robot with your 2.5kwh power consumption a day which may feel like validation to some creatures on this fediverse
- become powered by cake

1. We need specialists to talk to computers.

2. Specialists are expensive, can we avoid them?

3. Ah, what if instead of using difficult programming languages, we used something closer to natural language!

4. Wait, natural language is imprecise, which leads to Bad Things.

5. Okay, natural language, but Precise™!

6. Wait, that's just a programming language and non-techies hate it.

7. A new type of techie emerges, specializing in the new tool.

Tee hee "prompt engineering". :blobcatgiggle:

Even if it could be done without being equivalent to "papers please", excluding children/youth from the internet is equivalent in its nativity and malice to abstinence-only sex ed.

You should be preparing kids to defend themselves from the harms and risks of billionaire-owned platforms, not saying "yay, you're 18 now, go get your brain fried on Facebook!"

Why is the Internet carrying traffic that shouldn't exist? Anghel et al. reveal widespread hygiene failures in IP routing. Using eight years of BGP data, they show over 15k networks are actively forwarding invalid, spoofed, or private IP addresses. ndss-symposium.org/ndss-paper/

Goldman Sachs launches AI-free index
axios.com/2026/02/20/ai-goldma
Goldman Sachs has launched an S&P ex-AI index, SPXXAI, which that lets you invest in the S&P 500 benchmark index minus all things AI.
This product is proof of the demand among investors for a way to hedge their exposure to the AI trade.

Age Verification isn't a technical problem to solve. If you think that, you're missing the point.

It's a social problem used by authoritarian governments as an excuse for population control and censorship.

It's a fundamental attack on free speech and democracy.

It must not be accommodated.
It must be stopped.

#MassSurveillance #AgeVerification #Privacy #Democracy #HumanRights

@Em0nM4stodon The only technical problem to solve is to find ways to hack and sabotage surveillance systems.

Hacktivists tried to find a workaround to Discord’s age-verification software, Persona. Instead, they found its frontend exposed to the open internet, and that was just the beginning.

@codinghorror @xgranade The push for LLM inevitability is all the same people as cryptocurrency. That should tell you something about LLMs. It certainly tells me something.

If Israel and Tucker Carlson are going to have a fight, I hope they both lose and everyone involved ends up having absolutely atrocious days. Israel is an apartheid state doing genocide, and Tucker is a white supremacist, so frankly they deserve each other. Let them fight. In fact, make them fight.

Und hier die richtige Headline:

"KAPITULATION: Union und SPD stimmen gegen Regulierung US-amerikanischer und chinesischer Netzwerke"

there's this line from Adventure Time that I'm obsessed with...

"I learned to read braille from my ex."

"Your ex was blind?"

"No, just cool."

absolutely sums up my love for that show. just teaching excellent vibes all the way through without being preachy.

Eben an #CDU-Stand vorbei gekommen.
