430 mm of snow Downtown in the last day.

But the 5th Avenue sidewalk was still clear.

Well done, Anchorage.

WTF?! I was so busy enjoying our gentle snowfall that I didn't notice Utqiagvik had a high of FIVE in DECEMBER today until I saw CBC's writeup: cbc.ca/news/canada/north/alask

Wait, what? Gnome Weather says we have a high of 5° next Monday and by Friday it's a high of -12°.

Representative Peltola is right to fight for railway workers' right to sick leave.

This is why we elected her, as opposed to electing, say, a disgraced ex-governor ex-Wasilla-mayor.

Shame on Canada for delaying entrances into the public domain by 20 years.

Shame on Europe and the United States for setting Canada a bad example first.

There are other causes for worry, but sending Representative Peltola back to Washington to legislate on our behalf is cause for relief. And Thanksgiving. CBC covers Alaska surprisingly seldom, but they did pick up this story.

TIL our Unorganized Burough alone is already larger than Texas. Take that, Texas!

This is crazy--this weekend Buffalo gets two meters of snow, next weekend it's highs of 7° with rain? Sounds like a giant slushy mess to me.

I am floored by Thor Z's youtube channel. It definitely puts several sample libraries to shame that I had thought were decent.

As an ex-Chicagoan, it is amazingly satisfying to hear Nora Young at CBC pronounce "Chicago" correctly. Saying ShiKAHgoh, as opposed to ShiKAWgoh, is common but a sure fire indication that one is an outsider.

Heartening to see Twitter refugees finding a new home in the fediverse. Welcome.

I agree with Beethoven on this one: "And why didn't they encore the Fugue? That alone should have been repeated! Cattle! Asses!"

In Anchorage, we may be getting our first lows at 0° or -1° within the next week. In Hackney, London, they've already got a nine meter holiday tree decorated. Let the Yuletide festivities begin!

Dear law.com: there are many reasons to be outraged at the US Supreme Court, but expansion of fair use is not one of them. Also, you can't expect people to read past the headline if you put up a paywall. I'm xing out.

Who is clamoring the loudest in 2022 for a constitutional convention? Yup, that's all you need to know. Let's vote no.

Can the Constitution be improved? Of course. Would a constitutional convention in today's political climate improve it? No. In fact, we have a lot to lose if we risk starting over from scratch. Let's vote no on another convention.

Exciting that for the first time the US dollar can buy almost a UK pound and more than a euro.

In the United States, a movement is so afraid of losing their culture that they make every effort to make the practice of every other culture as difficult as possible. One can find this concerning without specifically identifying with every one of those minority cultures and likewise without rejecting every aspect of the white-Texas-Florida culture.
